Tanya Miller
Co-founder and President
Tanya M. Miller is the Co-founder and President of PrimeBank of Texas, where she drives the bank’s strategy, culture, and growth. With over 20 years of banking experience, she is known for her ability to lead through complexity, solve challenges with clarity, and build teams focused on long-term success. As such, she was recognized as a 2024 Austin Business Journal Women in Business nominee for her leadership and contributions to the industry.
Tanya, alongside her co-founder, led the charge in raising capital and starting PrimeBank during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when many thought such an endeavor was impossible. Since founding PrimeBank in 2021, Tanya has been instrumental in scaling operations, expanding into new markets, and building a high-performing team. Her vision has guided the bank through consistent growth while maintaining a strong focus on customer service, compliance, and operational excellence. Tanya’s experience building a community bank from the ground up, along with her expertise in credit, financial reporting, and regulatory oversight, ensures that PrimeBank remains secure, innovative, and forward-looking in a constantly evolving financial landscape.
Tanya’s career spans nearly every level of banking, beginning as a teller at PlainsCapital Bank. She later moved into branch and operational management roles before transitioning to the public sector. As a Senior Financial Examiner and Review Examiner with the Texas Department of Banking, she conducted in-depth examinations of financial institutions across Texas, contributed to problem bank resolution efforts during the Great Recession, and ensured that Texas maintained a safe, sound, and competitive banking system. Later, at Centennial Bank in Lubbock, Tanya served as Executive Vice President, Chief Credit Officer, and Advisory Director, leading credit risk management, overseeing regulatory compliance and audit functions, and helping shape the strategic direction of the organization.
In addition to her leadership at PrimeBank, Tanya is actively involved in industry organizations and trade associations, where she is a sought-after panelist, lecturer, and speaker focused on banking innovation, community bank growth and impact, credit strategy, and community involvement. She serves as the Advisory Board Chair and a faculty member for the Texas Tech School of Banking, sits on the Board of Directors for the Texas Bankers Association (2023-2025), and is a faculty member for the Southwest Graduate School of Banking and the National Certified Community Bank Director Program at the SMU Cox School of Business. Furthering her commitment to investing in her community, Tanya has served as a mentor during the Austin Business Journal’s Mentoring Monday event as a member of the Austin Business Journal’s BizWomen Leadership Council.
Committed to community impact, Tanya leads the bank’s community outreach and philanthropic initiatives, including partnerships with local schools, small business support programs, and financial literacy efforts across Texas. She is a passionate mentor and helps develop the next generation of banking professionals by investing in people and creating opportunities for growth within her teams. She’s a fierce advocate for empowering women in banking and business, inspired by her grandfather’s playful yet powerful saying: “A girl can do anything a boy can do—it just takes her a little longer to get cleaned up.” His words have been a lifelong encouragement to tackle every challenge with confidence and grit.
Tanya holds a BBA in Finance and Business Economics from Texas Tech University and graduated with distinction from the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at SMU. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, finding joy in activities that keep her grounded and connected to her loved ones. In all parts of her life, Tanya leads with heart, discipline, and vision—qualities that continue to shape PrimeBank’s future and the communities it proudly serves.
